Regal Construction Earns National and Statewide Recognition for Excellence in Construction and Safety

Regal Construction announced today that its work at the Marathon Petroleum refinery in Garyville, La. has earned the company its second National Excellence in Construction Eagle Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Additionally, Regal Construction has earned Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corporation’s (LWCC) distinguished Safety 70 award for the third time in the company’s history.

The Marathon Petroleum refinery in Garyville is the third largest oil refinery in the United States and boasts an average production of 522,000 barrels per day. In 2014, Marathon Petroleum reached out to Regal regarding their needs for several new critical support building facilities located in the heart of the refinery.  Over the following 10 months, Regal designed and constructed over 42,000 square feet of new buildings including two zone shops, a waste water treatment building and a refrigerated butane storage building.

“We are honored that our commitment to service-driven project delivery, innovation and safety have been recognized by the ABC and LWCC on both a national and statewide level,” said Marc Bourgeois, president and co-owner of Regal Construction. “It is a commitment our project teams renew each day on every project we construct, and we are grateful to our clients who share our dedication to superior quality and safety.”

The Excellence in Construction Awards program is the industry’s leading competition, developed to honor innovative and high-quality merit shop construction projects with Eagle Awards presented to the top projects. The winning projects, selected from entries submitted from across the nation, were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and cost. A panel of industry experts served as the competition’s judges. This year's panel included representatives from the Design-Build Institute of America, Engineering News-Record, the Construction Users Roundtable, the National Association of Women in Construction, and representatives from higher education, among others.

LWCC’s Safety 70 Award acknowledges excellence, outstanding performance, and commitment to workplace safety and is given to the top 70 – or 0.4% - of over 17,000 entities insured by LWCC. Companies are recognized based on the effectiveness of their safety efforts in preventing injuries and maintaining a consistent workplace safety history.
